Minutes of Monthly Meeting June 10, 2004

Call to Order 7:30

Roadhouse Grill was very accommodating, nice set up for 24 and we ended up with 16

Guests: Brian Lachow- 350 Z Track,  Silver and  Barbara 1983 280ZX with 70,000 original miles and her friend Jane.

Treasurers Report: Paid for the conference call for Z Fest  and trophies. Still have to pay postage for mailing trophies and name plates. Had one check from registration bounce.

Clark will call about the contract and the cost of the current web site that we have. we have not received a bill for some time and we don’t need a nasty surprise.

Old Business: Z Fest 2004

Ken has the names and addresses of the sponsors and  is still working on the CD and letter for them.  He needs to contact Scott and Dan to get the shirts hats and bags. Intends to have these mailed in the next 2-3 weeks.  He would like to call on the local sponsors in person to thank them and deliver their things. He will mail the long distance ones.

All Trophy plaques were mailed out and have been received by Z Fest winners, and 3 out of the 4 trophies that needed to be mailed have been shipped and received. The last remaining trophy will be shipped on 6/18/2004.
Many thanks to Tonya, Chris and Carlos for their efforts to get this accomplished.

I think it would be a good idea for every one that was involved in Z Fest in one way or another to take a few minutes and write down what went wrong as well as what was done successfully in order to make sure that we avoid the same problems from showing up in 2005 as well as we create an outline that could simplify future activities.

SFZC thanked everyone for the event and have also provided positive feedback toward the expansion of Z Fest and the inclusion of performance components like Dyno, Auto X, and 1/4 mile track sessions. However they would like to suggest the moving up of the event to February in order to avoid Florida Love Bugs. I think if we look at that possibility it could also be beneficial to us as we would be 2 month ahead of West Coast Nationals and in the middle of winter for the north eastern USA making a trip down to Florida and the Orlando area even more attractive. I know Scott B. had also indicated that April was a bad month for him with all the trade shows that he has to prepare for, so I think it is a good opportunity to explore this option further. We probably all need to check what else is happening in February so that we are well positioned for selecting a date. We need the club performance oriented members to see what we can put together. (Dyno, Auto X, Dragstrip)

Sport Z Magazine will print an article about the event if we get it to them.  Al will do it.

Tanya is working on new Z-Club cards.

Communications: John will check the information on the internet site  for correct meeting night and change the label  on Scott Anderson’s  Z to it’s proper designation of 240Z not 280.

John will get a list of alternative internet sites and costs.

He would also like some input for the site.

It was suggested that we have a forum so we can post different things of interest. John will see what he can develop

New Business:

Ken suggested we get back to having a speaker at the meetings.

2005 Z-Fest    Would like to have Hybrid Z involved?

We need to have a performance event with Z Fest possibly to combine it with South East  “Z” Shoot Out.  It is put on in Reynolds Ga. now but he would move it if the opportunity was there.

Gainesville has a good track.  Price? Availability?

Show n’ Shine

Flea Market

Drag Races?  Again Track Availability?

. Clark  changed the address of our meeting and the phone numbers to his and Scott Anderson  in the newspaper.

Events: Al will send a calendar of events to John, hopefully some of us will have things that others might enjoy doing that we can post also.

Road Rally and lunch planned for Sunday, July 11th .

Sun Coast - International car show wants 15 old Z’s for their convention.  Need more information on this.

Clark suggests Entry Forms for Z-Fest be added to e-mails about club events.
